Shimeji Desktop Guide

First of all, you’re going to need to get the program. It’s free and requires no installation. Click here to go get it! (opens in a separate window)

Alright, so when you download the shimeji you want, all you’re going to get is this:

Shimeji Desktop Guide

The simplest ending of them all. Generally considered the 'default' ending, being the only ending that can be reached solely through dialogue options. This section of the guide will therefore merely tell the correct responses to reach the ending in the order the options arrive, so as to minimise spoilers. I want to be a baker!

Download shimeji of choice. (f.e.: karkat) 6. Open english shimeji EE and copy the folder to another folder (f.e.: my homestuck shimejis) this copied folder will later contain the exe to run your shimeji (f.e.: karkat) 7. Now open the folder of your downloaded shimeji and go to the conf sub folder and copy everything what’s in there. Opening the Shimeji Folder. Once you have your Shimeji folder open, you will see six files- 'conf', 'img', and 'lib' which are folders; two files named Shimeji, and a text document (sometimes). The text is just for copyright. The conf folder is for other files, and the lib is for Executable Jar files.

So how do we get this bunch of pictures to move?

Simple!

First, you need to open the .zip file with the Shimeji-EE program (download link above). It should look something like this:

Then, click the “Extract All” button circled in red to get the files out of the .zip file and into a folder.

From there, what you’re going to want to do is to move the folder with the images of the shimeji you want into the img folder. It should look like this:

Then, you need to go back and run the .jar file. If it doesn’t work, perhaps there’s something wrong with your Java (feel free to check if that’s the case here).

Unfortunately, for some reason the developers changed the program, so at first all you’re going to have is this default cartoony guy running around:

Don’t worry, this is completely normal and fixable.

What you need to do is to right-click the icon circled in red, then drag your mouse to the “Settings” and select the highlighted “Choose Shimeji…” option.

From here, all you have to do is tick the box with the shimeji you want and untick the one with the default guy and click “Use Selected”.
