Shimejis are little mascots who will be released in your web browser, after which they start to play and interact with posts on your tumblr dashboard, videos at YouTube or your pages at DeviantArt.

They were intended to play on your desktop, right?
Yes. The original software, created by Yuki Yamada of Group Finity, releases shimejis on your desktop. However my blog post describes the reborn of shimejis for the web.
Requirements
A supported web browser is required, such as Google Chrome, Safari or Firefox.

The shimeji downloads listed below point to the Chrome Web Store, where you can download them for free.
Safari / Firefox
A Shimeji can be downloaded as ‘userscript’. You need a browser extension/add-on in order to run userscripts. Follow these steps:
1. Download and install: tampermonkey(for safari) OR greasemonkey(for firefox).
2. Get a shimeji userscript from the list below.
3. Manually import this script in tampermonkey / greasemonkey.

Right now, only the above shimejis are available. Please request other characters by sending me an e-mail (shimeji@hckr.me). The software is compatible with the original desktop buddies, so you can just send me download links ^_^

Right now, the characters are a little dumb. I’m teaching them to improve their skills, but this is a time consuming task. Please let me know what you think of the current shimejis.
